I MADE IT! So this is the city of Amman, capital of Jordan. After my long lay over, I ended up seeing a Fulbrighter on the plane to Jordan. We got our visas, got our luggage, and the driver was at the door waiting with a Fulbright sign as we had expected. We got into the hotel around 3:30am.
Later the same day, myself and the other Fulbrighter, decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. He needed a sim card, since he already had an old phone he was going to use. It’s holiday today, therefore most stores are closed today. Weather was quite warm earlier, but tolerable. Its 6:45pm and it’s 88 degrees, but nice breeze to compliment it.

I go for a walk by myself around 8:30pm because night is so peaceful and here is a stream of consciousness of my thoughts as I sat down at a pedestrian walkway to people watch.
The photos doesn’t display how many people were out, but there were so many! I was just trying to be discrete, but over those shrubs people are smoking shisha, laughing, with their families, etc.

a taxi passes by me with loud music, couples of men walking looking to catch my gaze, cars have little regard for stop signs, people are clapping and singing from their cars, beeps beeps, constant motion of cars passing, loud bass, I can’t tell if there’s a cafe playing loud music or a car stationed with people around it playing loud music, more couples of men walking, Burger King on my left, the streets a little dark to walk back, lots of people on roller skates and bikes, skate guy as a Payton jersey on and a metallic checkered hat, the same people walk by, weathers amazing, I am eating hummus and bread for 35 cents or 25 JOD

Nice relaxing day, getting acclimated to the city vibes. I will not be in this area for teaching  Shmeisani, I will be in Jebel Al Weibdeh to live and work. All part of the same city! No apartment yet, but a few of us are in the same situation so I am not too worried. Apartment searching should start Sunday. Now time to sleep, let’s see if I can beat the jetlag!
