It says “Proud”. Yeah proud to be VCU ram! —-> across the world and back (okay i’ll stop being corny)

I hadn’t posted these days because I have been getting home late hanging out with new friends. Yesterday was quite eventful. After classes, we headed over to my friend Hala’s house for some nice Arabic food, (lots of meat, rice, pita, cucumber yogurt…) Then we went to get shisha at Katara in an Egyptian restaurant with my VCU people,…it was nice environment and even had a live band! The decoration included the recreating of old Egyptian streets, (and there was a lady making bread just in the open.) Walking there we also stopped at a mosque, because I wanted to see inside and I learned a few things. The women’s section of the mosque is quite small compared to the men’s because women are supposed to pray at home, where men are expected to pray at the mosque and preferably in groups. You must take your shoes off once you’re inside, and because I was  in the women’s section, I couldn’t see much inside because their section is more a blocked off area. So you only get a glimpse of the ceiling and the carpeted area.

Soon around 8:30pm my friend texted me if I wanted to go to the beach with a whole bunch of people. So I went and it was fun, we played a role playing game called Mafia, we had Karak, some people brought Baskin Robbins and Dunkin donuts, so there was a lot of junk food eaten. I know I said I wasn’t going out this weekend, but I figured I could just wake up early and get my work done, which is why I’ve been at VCU since 10am. I am expanding my circle of friends to people from other universities. In the group yesterday there were a couple Cornell Students, so I was happy for that. Side note: I witnessed the moon in its biggest state I’ve ever seen, bright red-orange, with hints of yellow showing it was bright morning on the other side of the world. It casually made it way up the sky throughout the night, and I was so amazed how great it looked.

Fun, fun, but now work work.
